What is the difference between power cables and control cables?

From:CABLE CPR CERTIFICATION  Clicks:2229  Time:2017-5-19

Power cables are used to transmit and distribute large electrical energy in the main line of the power system. The control cable

transfers power directly from the power distribution point of the power system to the power connections of various electrical

equipment and appliances. The rated voltage of power cables is generally 0.6/1kV and above, and the control cables are mainly

450/750V. When the same specifications of power cables and control cables are produced, the insulation and sheath thickness of the

power cables are thicker than those of the control cables.

First of all, the control cable belongs to the electrical equipment cable, and the power cable is the 2 of the five major

categories of cables.

Control cable insulation wire color is generally black and white printing, low voltage power cable is usually color. The cross-

section of the control cable is generally no more than 10 square meters, the power cable is mainly to transport power, generally

are large cross-section.

As we mentioned above, the specification of power cable can be large, to 500 square (range of conventional manufacturers can

produce), and then a big section can do like manufacturers is relatively small, and the control cable section is generally small,

the largest is generally not more than 10 square.

From the cable core number, power cable according to the requirements of power grid, the most general for the 5 core control cable

transmission control signal, core number, according to the standard in terms of more than 61 core, but also can be produced

according to user requirements
